“Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” Then they took away the stone.- John 11:40–41
Devotional: Before Lazarus walked out of the tomb, Jesus told the people to roll away the stone. Their action did not raise Lazarus—only Christ could do that—but obedience positioned them to witness His glory. They moved the stone before they saw the miracle.
Biblical faith is more than agreement in our minds. Faith takes a stand and responds to God’s Word. The man who came to church carrying a cane announced before the service, “Today you are going to pray for me. I’m going to be healed, and I’m walking out whole.” He arrived ready to receive. After prayer, he rose, walked to the platform, threw down the cane, and left healed. His confidence was not in a person; it was in the power of God.
There may be a stone in front of your promise—an act of obedience you have delayed, a prayer you have stopped praying, forgiveness you need to extend, or a step you are afraid to take. Obedience cannot earn a miracle, but faith refuses to remain passive when Jesus has spoken. We pray believing, speak in agreement with Scripture, and follow the Spirit’s direction while leaving the outcome in God’s hands.
Ask the Lord what faithful obedience looks like today. Then move the stone. You may not yet see the answer, but you can act upon the trustworthiness of the One who promised.
Prayer: Jesus, I believe I will see Your glory. Show me the step of obedience You are asking me to take. Deliver me from passivity and give me courage to act in agreement with Your Word while trusting You with the result. Amen.
Practical Challenge: Take one specific, Scripture-aligned step toward the thing for which you are believing—make the call, offer forgiveness, request prayer, serve, give, or begin what God has placed in your heart.
