Treasure in Ordinary Vessels
Scripture: “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.”- 2 Corinthians 4:7
Have you ever looked at your weaknesses and wondered how God could possibly use you? Perhaps you see your past, your struggles, or the places where you still need to grow. You believe God can work through others, but you hesitate to believe He would work through you.
Scripture reminds us that God places His treasure in earthen vessels. These are ordinary containers, fragile and imperfect. Their value comes from what they carry. In the same way, the power working through a believer comes from God.
Pastor Kevin illustrated this with a vessel filled with oil. The vessel carries the oil, but it does not produce it. We depend on the Holy Spirit to supply what we could never manufacture ourselves.
This truth brings freedom. You do not have to pretend you have everything together before you surrender to the Lord. Bring Him your weaknesses, receive His correction, and let Him continue shaping your life. Your need for grace is an invitation to depend on Him.
Someone around you needs encouragement, prayer, or the hope of the gospel. God can work through your willing heart to touch that person. You may feel ordinary, but the treasure within you is precious.
Let your confidence rest in the Lord today. He knows the vessel, and He knows what He has placed inside it.
Prayer: Father, thank You for placing Your treasure within me. Help me surrender my weaknesses and depend on Your strength. Shape my life and use me to bring Your love to others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
