“We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.” — Hebrews 12:2
Devotional: The Christian life was never designed to be lived by human effort alone. God has given us a simple yet powerful strategy for spiritual growth: keep your eyes on Jesus.
Many believers become discouraged because they focus more on their failures than on their Savior. They spend their energy examining their weaknesses instead of beholding Christ. Yet Scripture teaches us that faith grows when our attention is fixed on Him.
The sermon reminds us that Jesus not only initiates our faith—He perfects it. The One who began the work is also the One who finishes it. Our responsibility is to keep our eyes on Him.
How do we do that? We keep our eyes on His Word. Jesus is the Word made flesh. Every time we open the Bible, we encounter Him. Every time we meditate on Scripture, we are fixing our gaze upon Him.
The world is constantly competing for our attention. Social media, entertainment, careers, and endless distractions pull at our hearts. Yet whatever captures our attention eventually shapes our affection.
A disciple learns to prioritize what matters most. The more we behold Jesus, the more we become like Him. The more we focus on His truth, the more freedom we experience.
Victory is not found in trying harder. Victory is found in keeping your eyes on the One who has already overcome.
Prayer: Jesus, I fix my eyes on You today. Help me resist distractions that pull my attention away from Your presence. Let Your Word become a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Strengthen my faith as I keep my focus on You. Amen.
Practical Challenge: Spend at least 15 minutes reading Hebrews 12 today. Highlight every phrase that reveals something about Jesus and write down what the Holy Spirit shows you.
