Give God the Glory
Scripture: “Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but to Your name give glory, because of Your mercy, because of Your truth.”- Psalm 115:1
It is a joy to see God answer prayer and touch someone’s life. Yet those moments also call us to guard our hearts. When people thank us or recognize our service, we must remember where the power comes from.
Pastor Kevin emphasized that we are the vessel carrying the oil. The Holy Spirit supplies the power. Every answered prayer, every changed life, and every genuine work of grace gives us a reason to worship the Lord.
Humility keeps this truth close. We can serve confidently while remaining deeply dependent on God. We can receive appreciation graciously and still acknowledge that everything we have comes from His hand.
The sermon also pointed to Saul as a reminder that spiritual responsibility requires character. Being entrusted with an assignment does not remove our need for obedience or a humble heart. We must continue allowing God to correct our motives and shape our decisions.
Sometimes pride appears as a desire for credit. Other times it surfaces as resentment when our efforts go unnoticed. In either case, the Lord invites us to return our attention to Him. His approval gives lasting meaning to our service.
You can rejoice when someone is blessed through your obedience, even when nobody knows your name. The Father sees your faithfulness. There is freedom in serving without carrying the burden of proving your importance.
Let every testimony lead your heart back to gratitude: “Lord, thank You. To You be the glory.”
Prayer: Father, keep my heart humble and teachable. Help me serve with pure motives and rejoice in what You accomplish. When recognition comes or passes me by, keep my attention on You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
