Jesus Is the Gate

Scripture: “Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.” —John 10:9

Devotional: Everything our hearts truly need is found in the presence of God—but we enter His presence through Jesus Christ. Jesus did not say that He was one of many gates. He declared, “I am the gate.” He is the way back to the Father, the Good Shepherd who calls us by name and leads us into abundant life.

We cannot earn our way into God’s presence through good behavior, religious activity, or our own righteousness. We enter because Jesus gave His life for us. His blood cleanses us, His sacrifice makes us righteous, and His resurrection gives us victory over sin and death.

Many people spend their lives chasing what they believe will satisfy them: more money, greater success, human approval, peace, purpose, or happiness. Yet those things can never replace the One for whom we were created. We do not simply need more things—we need more of Jesus. If we have Him, we possess the source of everything we need.

Through Christ, the door is open. We do not have to remain outside, separated from God or wandering without direction. We can come near with confidence. Jesus leads us into the presence of the Father, where we find forgiveness, belonging, provision, and life.

Stop searching everywhere else for what can only be found in Him. Come through the gate. Follow His voice. The abundant life your soul desires begins in the presence of Jesus.

Prayer: Father, thank You for making a way for me to enter Your presence through Jesus. Forgive me for searching elsewhere for what only You can provide. Help me recognize the Shepherd’s voice, follow Him faithfully, and receive the abundant life You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Practical Challenge: Spend ten uninterrupted minutes with Jesus today. Thank Him for the cross, surrender every distraction, and ask Him to draw your heart closer to His presence.
