Give Him Your Attention
Scripture: “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” — John 4:24
We can sing while our thoughts are somewhere else. We can stand in a worship service while mentally answering messages, organizing tomorrow, or replaying yesterday.
I want to encourage you to bring your whole heart into the presence of Jesus.
Worship expresses our love and surrender to God. Music helps us express it, but our devotion continues when the room becomes quiet. Whether we lift our hands, kneel, sing, or sit quietly before Him, we can turn our attention toward Jesus.
One practical step I encourage you to take is to remove distractions. Put the phone away. Step away from an unnecessary conversation. Release the pressure to observe what everyone else is doing. Give yourself permission to be fully present with the Lord.
You do not have to manufacture an emotional experience. Come honestly. If you feel weary, tell Him. If your mind keeps wandering, gently return your attention to His goodness. The Holy Spirit helps us worship from sincere hearts.
Consider what keeps interrupting the attention you want to give Jesus. Perhaps you need a few quiet minutes before the demands of the day begin. Perhaps you need to stop evaluating the music and start speaking your own words of love.
Then carry that surrender into your daily choices. Honor Him through your words, relationships, and responsibilities.
My encouragement today is simple: make room for Jesus. The Savior who gave Himself for you is worthy of your attention. Turn toward Him with fresh affection and let your heart respond to His love.
Prayer: Jesus, I give You my attention and my love. Holy Spirit, help me recognize and remove distractions. Teach me to worship sincerely, whether I feel strong or weary. Let the surrender I express in Your presence shape the way I live throughout this day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
