“Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.”- Matthew 13:58
Devotional: Nazareth knew Jesus as the carpenter’s son. They knew His family, His history, and the streets He had walked. Yet their familiarity became offense, and their offense hardened into unbelief. Only a short distance away, crowds brought the lame, blind, crippled, and broken to Jesus—and He healed them. The same Jesus was present, but the responses were completely different.
We face that same choice. We can live in the land of skepticism, allowing disappointment or familiarity to make us question what God can do, or we can live in the land of belief. Faith does not deny that pain is real. Faith declares that Jesus is greater than what is broken. He still saves, heals, delivers, restores, and makes a way.
Do not let yesterday’s disappointment define today’s expectation. Do not become so familiar with the language of church that you stop expecting the power of God. Come to Jesus with a receiving heart. Bring Him the place that hurts, the relationship that needs restoration, the need that seems impossible, and the person who needs freedom. The question is not whether Jesus is able. The question is whether we will honor His Word and believe. Choose today to live where faith welcomes His presence and expects His power.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, forgive me for every place where familiarity, offense, or disappointment has weakened my expectation. I believe You are still my Savior, Healer, and Restorer. Make my heart open and ready to receive all that Your Word promises. Amen.
Practical Challenge: Identify one area where disappointment has produced unbelief. Write down one promise from God’s Word for that situation and declare it aloud three times today.
