A Follower, a Builder, and Close to God
Scripture: “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” — James 1:22
A person of faith is first a follower. Faith listens to the Word of the Lord and responds with obedience. Abraham left what was familiar because God called him to go. He did not possess every detail of the journey, but he trusted the One leading him.
Faith does not merely admire God’s Word; it acts upon it.
A person of faith is also a builder. God’s Word becomes the material used to build a life, a family, a ministry, and a godly legacy. We may look at what we have and believe it is insufficient, but God is not asking us to begin with what we do not have. He asks us to be faithful with what He has already placed in our hands.
As we faithfully pour out what God has given us, He supplies what is needed for the next assignment. Little by little, prayer by prayer, and act of obedience by act of obedience, something greater is built. Ultimately, we are not merely building natural things—we are building believers, disciples, families, and the Kingdom of God.
This kind of faith grows through closeness with the Lord. A person of faith does not search for excuses to move away from God. They hunger for His presence, feed upon His Word, remain connected to His people, and desire to hear His voice.
Stay close to God. Listen carefully and obey quickly. You do not need to understand the entire journey today. You only need enough faith to follow Him in your next step.
Prayer: Father, make me a faithful follower and builder. Teach me to listen to Your voice and obey Your Word. Help me remain faithful with everything You have placed in my hands. Draw me closer to You, increase my hunger for Your presence, and use my life to build Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, amen.
