Look Ahead with Jesus
Scripture: “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross…”- Hebrews 12:2
A rearview mirror serves a purpose, but it cannot guide every movement of a journey. Pastor Kevin used this picture to remind us how difficult it becomes to move forward when our attention remains fixed on yesterday.
Painful memories deserve care. What happened matters, and healing does not require pretending otherwise. Yet the past does not have to become the only story we tell about our lives. God is still working, and His grace is present today.
Hebrews invites us to look unto Jesus. He endured the cross with the joy before Him in view. His suffering was real, but He remained committed to the Father’s purpose and the redemption His sacrifice would accomplish.
Because of Jesus, we can face the future with hope. We are not depending on our ability to understand every painful chapter. We are depending on the Savior who loves us and continues to lead us.
Perhaps you have spent so much time remembering what went wrong that you have overlooked the ways God has cared for you since then. A faithful friend. A prayer that sustained you. A door He opened. Strength for another day.
Recognizing His goodness does not minimize your pain. It reminds you that pain has never been the whole story.
Lift your eyes toward Jesus today. The One who began His work in you has not lost sight of you. There is still grace for the road ahead.
Prayer: Jesus, help me look toward You with renewed hope. Bring healing to my memories and open my eyes to Your goodness today. Lead me forward in the purpose You have for my life. In Your name, amen.
